As an award winning kitchens and bathrooms company in West Malling, at Potts we were relishing the challenge of this new project when a long standing client of ours asked us to produce something different for his relaxation room.
Our brief for this interesting project was to create a dedicated media and recreation area in the old forge building adjacent to its picturesque cottage in the heart of the Kent countryside. Our client informed us that this snooker table come dining facility was intended to cater for large family events, entertaining and for simple relaxation and fun. Our talented designer Sally Burden designed handmade bespoke furniture especially for this project, which required the furniture to house a Bang and Olufsen flat screen TV, speakers and associated media boxes and cabling, as well as Lutron controls for the specialist lighting scheme.
We treated the Ash furniture that we provided somewhat differently to traditional techniques, and the wood was hand sprayed on this occasion. This allowed for the beautiful grain detail of the wood texture to show. To complete this prestigious look we dressed the arms with luxurious leather handles. To add to the beautiful natural textures we used inlaid metal in the decorative top cornice which complemented and co-ordinated the copper metal details.
This modern, fresh look harmonises beautifully with the rustic stone and beams of this old industrial building, and Sally’s choice of burnished metal contrasted with the cabinetry perfectly. This formed eye-catching and effective features, with the metal that was set behind the mounted TV and circular speakers in their floor mounted housings only adding to this. We used cracked ice glass for the ornate shelves and the refreshment bar, which was combined with acid etched glass on a removable dining top, giving the finish an appealing sparkle. With the intended purpose of the room being for it to be a fun place to be able “Pott” a few balls at the snooker table, we ensured that the snooker table was custom made and that the colour worked with the rest of the décor and was made bespoke to our clients’ specification.
This project is the latest that the skilled design and build team at Potts have undertaken for these particular clients, and was done in addition to previous work that we had carried out on their bathrooms and custom designed and fitted kitchen. As part of this project the work that we carried out in the kitchen area included a fridge/wine-chiller, Nespresso coffee machine and granite work tops that completed the luxurious finish.
The overall refurbishment of this house included our expert designer Sally providing designs for a bespoke home office which included burr walnut doors with co-ordinated features, which as with the relaxation room incorporating a full media set up.
