Set on a hillside, with panoramic views of a typical Kentish valley, the kitchen in this comfortable home was overdue for upgrading to serve the needs of a busy family. Adjoining the kitchen was a formal dining room,
no longer in keeping with today’s lifestyle. The removal of the dividing wall created a large, airy room which could combine both the kitchen and dining areas.
The new design of the room should provide a highly efficient food preparation area. The American sized Miele oven was chosen for its large capacity, with a built-in steam pressure oven and a combination microwave to cater for frequent dinner parties and the urgent feeding needs of teenage offspring. The central shaped peninsular has a large gas hob, with a highly effective remote extraction system.
A practical working environment, while necessary for a dedicated cook, was not the only criteria – style and individuality were of high importance as the room would be both for everyday family use and for formal entertaining.
